WTB: Plants & Bristlenose then African Cichlid males
« on: January 19, 2013, 02:49:38 PM »

Time for a tank makeover!  After ten years of Malawi habitat rock and gravel I've decided it's time to go for a little colour.

The Plan:
Get a bristlenose catfish to help clean up the algae (cause I'm tired of all the scrubbing) add some plants and re-populate the tank.  I've put in the wood and it's ready for the bristlenose and the plants.

- Bristlenose Ancistrus (1)
*(not pleco or cory etc.)
*4cm or greater
*prefer peppermint (if affordable)
*orange spot or brown would be my second choice (no other colours)

- Broad Leaf Amazon Sword (Echinodorus bleheri)
- Java Fern (Microsorum pteropus)
- Variegated Japanese Dwarf Rush (Acorus variegatus)

*I'm looking for nice 'bright green' looking plants that are as unpalatable as possible to survive cichlid and bristlenose rummaging
*I'm not super keen on Anubias varieties although I know they are tough

And now, the most fun part... the fish!!

- "Firefish" (Alunocarra Firefish) (2)
- "Rusty" (Iodotropheus sprengerae) (2)
- Copadichromis Azureus (2)
- "Red Empress" (Protomelas Taeniolatus) (1)

* I will need to set up the plants and bristlenose before I buy the fish but would like to start sourcing them now
* Min 3.5-4cm
* Looking for males to colour up for display
* I realise that the firefish is an ornamental variety and has a great deal of variety so I would need to see pics before I bought any.  I am looking for the nice dark bodies with blue in the fins.
