NSW, VIC, QLD, ACT: Aldi Special Buys
« on: October 13, 2013, 07:12:10 PM »
Hey guys, Aldi Supermarkets have an ever changing range of "Special Buys" which come out every Wednesday & Saturday (stores normally open 8:30am, sometimes you need to get in quick to get some of the items to avoid disappointment as items can sometimes sell out as quickly as 10 minutes)
Now I'll do my best to keep an eye on what's coming out and let you guys know in advance if possible, mainly I'll only post fish related things, or things related to the hobby: lighting, filters, odds & ends, tools, umm pretty much anything, so let me know if there's something you want me to keep an eye on for you guys, I can let you know if and when it comes in, I'll try and keep it updated as best I can and keep it interesting with as much info on the items as possible: such as Brand, Price, size/weight, voltage/wattage if possible, but I don't think I'll provide pictures, I may provide links to the Aldi Website for certain items if that works... :banana1:  :banana1:  :banana1:  :banana1:  :banana1:  :banana1:  :banana1:  :banana1:  :banana1:  :banana1:  :banana1:  :banana1:  :banana1:  :banana1:  :banana1:  :banana1:  :banana1:

Disclaimer: I am an Aldi employee, but I do not represent Aldi, my views are my own and do not represent the views of Aldi or reflect that of Aldi, I am purely here to give you guys a heads up when there are good deals or relevent products which may be of use to you, not make more sales for the company or provide a service for the company or for you.

any feedback would be welcome...

Also well worth looking for, which have been on sale since Saturday 05 October are LED Lights, we have a whole heap of different types but as it was over 1 week ago now you will need to check stores for availability, but there are some cracker deals to be had as follows:

LED Spot Lights $8.99  ea
25,000 hrs Lifetime
Warm white in colour

LED Mini Bulbs or LED Candle $8.99 ea
25,000 hrs Lifetime
Warm white in colour

LED Bulbs - Assorted Varieties $11.99 ea
35,000 hrs Lifetime
Warm White Colour

LED Tube Light 10W/18W/22W - Assorted Varieties $24.99 ea
*T8 fitting*
10W: 2ft/60cm  850 Lumens
18W: 4ft/120cm  1700 Lumens
22W: 5ft/150cm  2000 Lumens
30,000 hrs Lifetime
Neutral White Colour
Includes Dummy Starter to replace standard T8 starter
(no 3ft globes sorry guys)

this is a photo of the catalogue as the online link will no longer work

I bought 4 of these 4ft T8 LED light fittings myself the other day, and i've done my research, all of the T8 fittings come in 2,4 & 5 foot globes and will replace any standard T8 globe, to my understanding a standard 4ft T8 uses 36 Watts and produces only 865 Lumens, so in comparison the same size LED globe uses 18 Watts and produces 1700 Lumens, so by my maths that's half the power consumption and twice the light output, also with a 30,000 hr lifetime on these globes, you may very well get 5-30 years out of these globes, depending on how long you use them each day manufacturers specs:(lifetime 30 years at around 2.7 hours/day, rated to 15,000 on/off switches over lifetime, colour: 4000K neutral white, (18kWh/1000h)
Also at $24.99 (2ft, 4ft,5ft doesnt matter they're all $24.99) they are a steal! I priced a local electrical distributor for a 4ft T8 LED globe and they quoted me $68!  :shoked: definitely worth checking out your local Aldi for the 2 & 4ft T8 LED's, does anyone even have a 5ft T8? I've never seen them, are they common elsewhere?
